Pelè Brazil store shirt | World Cup Celebration 1970 | Signed

Description
The Brazil store shirt, personalized with the name and number of the incomparable Brazilian legend Pelé, from the unforgettable 1970 Mexico World Cup, which culminated in the iconic final on June 21 with a 4-1 victory against an Italy far from lacking great champions.
The timeless Brazilian legend signed the shirt on the front.
Pelé shared a strong friendship over the years with Candido Cannavò, the historic director of La Gazzetta dello Sport, after whom the Cannavò Foundation is named.
For this reason, he needed no convincing when La Gazzetta organized the event “World Cup Heroes.” It was during the era of the “Magical Nights,” just days before the start of Italy’s own World Cup, Italia ’90. Cannavò and the entire Gazzetta team organized an event featuring a representative for each World Cup held up to that point, with the great Luciano Pavarotti bringing everyone together.
Pelé returned to Italy and La Gazzetta several times, but during that first occasion, he brought this special shirt as a gift for Cannavò. In the gallery of photos, you can see the snapshots from the day Pelé visited La Gazzetta dello Sport’s headquarters.
Naturally, Pelé signed the shirt in front of Cannavò, with that unique, intricate signature that almost seems fake: in reality, he brought artistry even to his autograph, just as he did on soccer fields around the world. That shirt was carefully preserved for years in Cannavò’s office at La Gazzetta, surviving every move. After the director’s passing, it reached us along with all his memorabilia.
Now, it is going up for auction to fund the solidarity projects of the RCS Foundation and La Gazzetta dello Sport, which bear his name.
Whoever wins it will also receive the book “Storia sentimentale dello sport italiano” (A Sentimental History of Italian Sport), a selection of some of Candido Cannavò’s most important articles.
