Description

The timepiece is the 15th special edition that the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer has created to support the work of Laureus Sport for Good. For the first time, a hard, scratch-resistant blue ceramic case complements the dial in signature Laureus blue. The winning work of the drawing competition that IWC organizes every year as part of all Laureus Sport for Good programs around the world is engraved on the caseback.

The dark blue shade of the ceramic is the result of a complex manufacturing process. Powdered zirconium oxide is mixed with other metal oxides, shaped, and then sintered in a furnace. Colored ceramic places extremely high demands on the quality and purity of the raw materials. On the blue dial, designed to imitate a cockpit instrument, the time can be read at a glance. Thanks to the luminescent coating, this is also possible at night. The IWC-manufactured 32111 caliber movement guarantees precise speed. Thanks to an improved barrel structure, the mainspring can hold an impressive five-day power reserve. An internal soft iron cage effectively protects the movement from the effects of magnetic fields. Limited to 750 pieces, this sporty pilot's watch comes with a blue rubber strap with a fabric insert.

As per the tradition of Laureus special editions, a special element is engraved on the back of the case: the winning design of the drawing competition that IWC organizes every year as part of all the programs supported by Laureus Sport for Good is engraved on the titanium caseback. It was created by 12-year-old Colombian Melissa Mejía Castilla and is titled "Vivir en Armonía" (Living in Peace). Melissa participates in activities organized by Fundación Colombianitos, an organization that promotes gender equality through sport.
