Pelé’s Legacy: The Story Lives On 🇧🇷
On October 1, 1977, at New York’s Giants Stadium, Pelé stepped onto the pitch for the final time in a historic friendly between the New York Cosmos and Santos, the two clubs that marked the final chapters of his career. The match became the stage for O Rei’s farewell to professional football: the only player in history to have won three FIFA World Cups with Brazil, in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
This auction begins on that very date: a tribute to the legacy Pelé left to Brazilian football and to the generations of players who followed in his footsteps.
A special selection of match shirts from some of Brazil’s most recent generations, players who have carried the history, prestige and responsibility of the Seleção on their shoulders, continuing a legacy made immortal by O Rei. From Pelé to the generations that followed: the players may change, but the shirt, its history and its legacy remain.
