Ambra Sabatini

Ambra Sabatini (born 19 January 2002) is an Italian Paralympic athlete. Born in 2002 in Livorno, but grew up and living in Porto Ercole, practice sports since childhood, first skating for two years, then volleyball for six years to finally land in athletics as a middle distance runner. On June 5, 2019, just while he was going to an athletic training in Grosseto, the scooter he was traveling on with his father was hit by a car that invaded their lane: As a result, he had to undergo the amputation of the left leg above the knee. After rehabilitation, she immediately started swimming and cycling, as she did not initially have a running prosthesis: the latter, arrived in 2020, allowed her to return to compete in athletics, first at the Italian Paralympic Championships with excellent results, up to the Grand Prix in Dubai where he ran the 100 meters in the T63 category in 14"59, recording the new Paralympic world record, valid for the qualification to the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.


Just during the latter, at his first participation he won the gold medal as well as breaking the world record - which she always recorded - with a time of 14"11, ahead of fellow countrymen Martina Caironi and Monica Graziana Contrafatto. On 13 July 2023 he won the gold medal at the World Cup in Paris, recording the world record (this time with 13"98) and again preceding the two team-mates.
