SSC Napoli
The club was de facto founded in 1926 as Associazione Calcio Napoli, following the change of statute and name of the Foot-Ball Club Internazionale-Naples, which had itself been formed in 1922. It then assumed the name of SSC Napoli in 1964 and, after the club's bankruptcy in 2004, President Aurelio De Laurentiis founded Napoli Soccer, which took over the sporting title and was registered in Serie C1, adopting the current name with promotion to Serie B in 2006.
The club's colour is light blue, while the mascot is the Ciuccio (dummy), originally an inbred horse. It plays its home matches at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, inaugurated in 1959.
With a palmarès that includes two Scudettos (1986-1987, 1989-1990), six Italian Cups (1961-1962, 1975-1976, 1986-1987, 2011-2012, 2013-2014 and 2019-2020), two Italian Super Cups (1990 and 2014) and a UEFA Cup (1988-1989), as well as an Alpine Cup (1966) and an Italian-English League Cup (1976), Napoli is the most nationally and internationally titled team from the South and, with 81 appearances, the most present in the top leagues.
Napoli is also one of the associate members of the ECA (Association of European Clubs), an organisation set up to replace the suppressed G-14 and made up of the continent's main football clubs, united in a consortium in order to obtain joint protection of sporting, legal and television rights before FIFA.
