Holy Land Emergency project
The Order of Malta, founded in Jerusalem in the 11th century, has a deep-rooted presence in the region.
Since its inception, it has acted to assist pilgrims of any origin, religion, ethnicity, gender or political belief.
The motto “Tuitio Fidei, Obsequium Pauperum” (bearing witness to the faith and serving the poor and the sick) has guided its work for almost 1,000 years. Today, the Order is present in 120 countries around the world and remains apolitical, neutral and impartial.
The Order of Malta, now more than ever, wants to continue to serve the Holy Land both in the territories and in the Holy Family Maternity Hospital in Bethlehem (where over 4,500 babies are born every year), ensuring support to the population hard hit by the ongoing conflict, regardless of their faith.
