Sermig foundation onlus

Sermig - "Servizio Missionario Giovani" (Missionary youth service) - was born in 1964 by the will of Ernesto Olivero, who had the dream of overcoming hunger with works of justice and development, To live solidarity with the poorest and to give attention to young people, seeking together with them the paths of peace.

Sermig also began to deal with the problem of poverty in Turin, starting to operate not only in Italy, but also in other places around the world to help the poorest, such as in Rwanda and Darfur, Romania and Georgia.

Over the years Sermig has carried out about 3,050 humanitarian actions in more than 90 countries, through studies and projects aimed at producing self-development, as well as basic aid for populations and individuals.

These are projects aimed at safeguarding human life, giving absolute priority to children. In addition to the necessary interventions aimed at reception and services such as health, housing and food.

The headquarters of the Sermig is the former military arsenal of Turin, renamed Arsenal of Peace. It is an area of forty thousand square meters, which thanks to the work of volunteers has been used as a shelter for the poor, offering shelter for the night, meals and care to people in need.
