Description

Title of the work:

Humanism

I was wandering through the halls of the Ludwig Museum in Cologne when I caught a glimpse of this woman who seemed to blend into Miriam Cahn's painting, as if held by the hand of the sitter: the viewer and the nude figure depicted on the canvas, unsettlingly, gaze into each other's eyes. If, while looking at the photograph, you briefly cover the woman's legs with your hand, she seems to be part of the painting itself; the colors of her sweater, skin, and hair are the same as those in the painting, just as the blurring of the woman's movement resembles the outline of the sitter in the painting.

The work is part of Alex Trusty's photographic project "Contemporary Museum Watching," exhibited last year at the Palazzo Reale in Piazza Duomo, Milan, and this year at the Collezioni Comunali d'Arte in Piazza Maggiore, Bologna.

Technical specifications:

  • Cologne, 2022
  • 70x50 cm, ex. 1/10
  • Fine Art print on Canson platine paper

This work was donated by Trusty Alex.

For this charitable initiative, Memorabid is responsible for collecting pre-auction bids.

The final closing of the lot will take place during the event on Monday, November 3rd, at 6:30 PM in the Salone d'Onore at Triennale Milano.

At the end of the pre-auction, the highest bid received for each lot will constitute the starting bid for the in-person event. If there are no further bids, the pre-auction winner will definitively win the lot.

Pre-auction winners will receive an email inviting them to raise a maximum bid, which will be carried forward to the auction on November 3rd to protect the interests of the online pre-auction participant.

Winners of the online pre-auction will also be offered the opportunity to defend their bid by participating remotely at the November 3rd event, via the telephone auction mechanism directly through the CAF Association.
