FO DARIO
Charity initiative supporting Associazione CAF OnlusQuick bid
Description
Untitled
Both works have a cut corner: it might seem intentional... and that’s the “official” version I had agreed on with Dario.
But I feel it’s only fair to tell you exactly how it happened...
Dario was in his studio working on the second piece (the first one was already finished). I was working with Franca on the digital archive, with our backs turned to Dario.
By accident, Dario spills some paint on the corner of the piece he was working on... I turned around to help him stop the paint from dripping off the palette... and instead, I made things worse... I spilled it on the other artwork too. Help!
But Dario didn’t get upset. He calmly said: “You know what we’ll do? Let’s cut off the damaged corner. Don’t worry, dear Giovanni... you know, in Japanese culture there’s a concept where a broken vase gains a new life through its cracks – usually filled with gold or precious materials – and becomes even more valuable.
The meaning behind it is simple: don’t be afraid or ashamed of your wounds... embrace them.”
It was probably the most satisfying time I’ve ever used scissors and a utility knife!!!

For this charitable initiative, Memorabid is responsible for collecting pre-auction bids.
The final closing of the lot will take place during the event on Monday, November 3rd, at 6:30 PM in the Salone d'Onore at Triennale Milano.
At the end of the pre-auction, the highest bid received for each lot will constitute the starting bid for the in-person event. If there are no further bids, the pre-auction winner will definitively win the lot.
Pre-auction winners will receive an email inviting them to raise a maximum bid, which will be carried forward to the auction on November 3rd to protect the interests of the online pre-auction participant.
Winners of the online pre-auction will also be offered the opportunity to defend their bid by participating remotely at the November 3rd event, via the telephone auction mechanism directly through the CAF Association.
