Description

Brazil match shirt issued / worn by Zagallo during an official match, 1964 season.

As a left winger and versatile forward, Zagallo took part in Brazil’s World Cup triumphs of 1958 and 1962, becoming known for his dynamism, his ability to attack and support the defensive phase, and his nickname “formiguinha” (“little ant”) due to his slender but tireless physique.

As a member of the national team, he earned 33 caps and scored 4 goals between 1958 and 1964. Even though by 1964 his playing career was nearing its end, his presence in the squad continued to represent a link to the roots of Brazil’s winning identity.

Zagallo then continued his career on the sidelines, becoming one of the few in the world to have won the World Cup both as a player and as a coach (1970), and later contributing as coach and assistant to further titles with Brazil.

Zagallo signed the shirt on the back.

The shirt shows signs of wear, possibly related to gaming actions, however, no photographic evidence of the same has been found and therefore it is not possible to guarantee beyond reasonable doubt that the shirt was actually worn in competition (and not getting dirty in other ways over time).

This memorabilia is part of the match supply made available to players during official competitions and is different in its features in relation to the ones sold in fanshops, it could have been worn during the match and washed after the end of the match or prepared for the match but then not used.
