Description

Drawing by Keith Haring (Reading, USA, 1958 – New York City, USA, 1990), felt-tip marker on paper, Untitled.

The work is signed, dedicated to Urb and dated 1983, measuring 6.6 x 4.4 in / 17 x 11.2 cm.

The drawing is accompanied by a letter of provenance and authenticity issued by the Urbano Quinto Heritage, signed by Prof. Darius Wexlar. This document will be made available to the buyer upon completion of the sale.

The work comes from the private collection of modern and contemporary drawings of Urbano Quinto, Novara. It was acquired directly from Keith Haring during the artist’s solo exhibition at the Robert Fraser Gallery, 21 Cork St, London, UK, held from October 19 to November 12, 1983. Urbano stayed in London at that time, becoming a close friend of the gallery’s owner, Robert – Groovy Bob – Fraser, a friendship that continued until Fraser’s untimely death in 1986.

Urbano Quinto met Keith Haring at Andy Warhol’s Factory in New York. He first met Andy Warhol in April 1977 during the opening of the Studio 54 nightclub in New York City. The two remained close friends for ten years, from 1977 until Warhol’s death in 1987.
