This is a 50 Lire "Minerva" banknote issued by the Italian Republic.
This banknote is part of the series of State Tickets issued after the fall of the fascist regime and the proclamation of the Italian Republic in 1946. They were printed as an alternative to the paper money of the Bank of Italy, especially for the smaller denominations such as 1, 5, 10 and 50 Lire, to facilitate daily exchanges in a period of economic crisis.
The presence of the figure of Minerva, goddess of wisdom and war, symbolizes the relaunch of post-war Italy with a reference to classical culture.
