“Le Mani” by Jean-Michel Folon, a signed terracotta artwork from a limited edition.

The work formed part of the unforgettable installation created by the award-winning Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon in Pietrasanta on 1 January 2000, to mark the Jubilee year.

Wrinkled hands, marked by two thousand years of history; hands of light, carrying the light of experience that guides and supports humanity’s journey into the new millennium.

As architect Piero Mori, one of the organisers of the Pietrasanta event, explained: “At Folon’s express wish, the works were not even cleaned of the candle wax from the candles that illuminated the square, so that the uniqueness of the event and the symbolic power of each individual hand would remain intact.”

Technical specifications:

• Terracotta artwork
• Dimensions: approx. 29 × 14 cm
