The gold medal from the 2014 UEFA Super Cup, awarded to the Real Madrid squad to celebrate their victory in the final against Sevilla.

The match was played on 12 August 2014 at the Cardiff City Stadium in Wales, between Real Madrid and Sevilla.

Real Madrid entered the competition as winners of the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League, which they had claimed just a few months earlier in the historic final in Lisbon against Atlético Madrid, while Sevilla qualified as holders of the UEFA Europa League, having defeated Benfica on penalties in the final.

Real Madrid won the match 2-0, thanks to a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored in the 30th and 49th minutes.

The medal is round in shape and gold in colour, featuring a predominantly satin finish combined with engraved and polished details. One side prominently displays the UEFA Super Cup trophy, represented in a stylised design and accompanied by the embossed inscriptions “UEFA SUPER CUP” and “2014”.

The reverse once again features a stylised profile of the competition’s trophy, with a clean and minimalist design occupying much of the medal’s surface.

The dark blue ribbon repeatedly features the inscriptions “CARDIFF 2014”, “UEFA” and “SUPER CUP”, together with the competition’s distinctive symbols, immediately identifying the host city and the edition of the event for which the medal was produced.

The 2014 UEFA Super Cup came at a particularly significant moment in Real Madrid’s recent history. The team, managed by Carlo Ancelotti, had just secured the long-awaited La Décima, the club’s tenth European Cup/Champions League title, and featured a squad packed with stars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos and Iker Casillas.

The Cardiff final also held special significance for Gareth Bale, who had the opportunity to play a European final in his hometown. The undisputed star of the match, however, was Cristiano Ronaldo, whose two goals secured the trophy for Real Madrid and earned him the Man of the Match award.
