Italy match shirt prepared for / worn by the Italian national team’s number 1 goalkeeper for an official match during the 1995 season.
The shirt can be attributed to one of the goalkeepers of either the senior national team or the Under-21 side from that period, as the shirts worn by the two teams were identical.
Furthermore, players’ names were not yet applied to the back of the shirts at the time, making it impossible to attribute this particular example to a specific player with certainty. It may therefore have belonged, among others, to Angelo Peruzzi, the senior national team’s first-choice goalkeeper at the time, or Gianluigi Buffon, who made his debut for both the Italy Under-18 and Under-21 teams during that period.
The shirt shows signs of wear, possibly related to gaming actions, however, no photographic evidence of the same has been found and therefore it is not possible to guarantee beyond reasonable doubt that the shirt was actually worn in match (and not getting dirty in other ways over time).
This memorabilia is part of the match supply made available to players during official competitions and is different in its features in relation to the ones sold in fanshops, it could have been worn during the match and washed after the end of the match or prepared for the match but then not used.
