The ticket is preserved inside a transparent protective sleeve and retains excellent legibility of all printed details.
This ticket is associated with one of the most famous matches in World Cup history. Against all expectations, Cameroon defeated reigning world champions Argentina 1–0 thanks to a goal scored by François Omam-Biyik in the 67th minute. The victory of the “Indomitable Lions” remains one of the greatest upsets ever witnessed at a FIFA World Cup and marked the beginning of Cameroon’s remarkable run to the quarter-finals.
The match was played at the historic San Siro Stadium, one of the venues selected to host the most prestigious fixtures of Italia ’90 and widely regarded as one of the most iconic football stadiums in the world. In front of more than 73,000 spectators, Cameroon produced a result that instantly became part of World Cup folklore.
The 1990 FIFA World Cup concluded with West Germany lifting the trophy after defeating Argentina 1–0 in the final at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico. Despite losing the opening match, Diego Maradona’s Argentina recovered to reach the final, eliminating both Brazil and hosts Italy along the way. Cameroon, meanwhile, emerged as the tournament’s surprise package, becoming the first African nation to reach the World Cup quarter-finals and narrowly missing out on a place in the semi-finals after an unforgettable campaign.
This memorabilia piece is part of the Campaign dedicated to objects that have shaped the history of great football: a unique item, previously displayed at the San Siro Museum, that tells the story of the achievements, emotions, and triumphs of the great teams that have played in this stadium, particularly Milan and Inter, as well as international clubs and national team: indissolubly linked to the legend of one of the most iconic stadiums in the world: San Siro!
