Juventus match issued / worn shirt by Zalayeta in a Serie A match, 1998/99 season.

Marcelo Zalayeta was a Uruguayan striker who joined Juventus in 1997 as a highly promising young talent, but found his path blocked by stars such as Alessandro Del Piero and Filippo Inzaghi. Although he never became a true superstar, he earned a reputation as a player for the big occasions, particularly in the UEFA Champions League, thanks to his physical presence, opportunism, and ability to deliver in crucial moments.

The 1998/99 season was essentially a learning year for him. In a difficult campaign for Juventus, marked by Del Piero’s serious injury and disappointing results, Zalayeta struggled for playing time and scored twice in the Coppa Italia before being loaned to Empoli in January to gain valuable experience and regular minutes.

This memorabilia is part of the match supply made available to players during official competitions and is different in its features in relation to the ones sold in fanshops, it could have been worn during the match and washed after the end of the match or prepared for the match but then not used.
