In the 22nd minute, Sakho reacted quickest to a shot from Franck Ribéry that had been parried by Andriy Pyatov, firing home to open the scoring.

The second goal arrived in the 34th minute through Benzema, following a deflection off Mathieu Valbuena.

Early in the second half, Ukraine were reduced to ten men after Khacheridi was sent off for a foul on Ribéry. France’s pressure continued to build until the decisive third goal in the 72nd minute, when Sakho turned Ribéry’s cross into the net, completing a historic comeback.
