This model represents the “alternative” version of AS Roma’s home shirt for the 1980/81 season, featuring a different numbering style compared to the one most commonly used. This specific number design appeared only in a few selected matches as can be seen in gallery, such as against Ascoli, Perugia, and Pistoiese, while in most games the team wore white numbers with a different shape and geometry.

The 1980/81 season is remembered as one of the most controversial in Serie A history: Roma narrowly missed out on the title, lost in dramatic fashion due to the infamous “Turone no-goal” in the decisive clash against Juventus an episode that remains one of the most debated moments in Italian football history.
