UEFA had initially considered the possibility of banning betting-related sponsors for the second-leg match, which was to be played in Germany.

In the end, however, UEFA did not impose any restrictions, and Milan were able to take the field wearing the away shirt featuring the Bwin logo.

Consequently, the shirt now up for auction, without the sponsor, is simply a precautionary match-prepared shirt, created for a scenario that ultimately never occurred.

The second-leg quarter-final match ended 2–0 in Milan’s favour, overturning the 2–2 result from the first leg.
