UC Sampdoria

Founded the 12 of August 1946 from the fusion of the Sampierdarenese and the Andrea Doria, the Sampdoria plays in the Serie A of the Italian football championship.

It's a member of the European Club Association and ranks tenth among the clubs with the greatest sports tradition in Italy.

In it's history the Sampdoria has played in 65 Serie A Championships and 11 Serie B ones, winning a Scudetto, 4 Italian cups and one Italian Supercup.

On the international level the club boasts of winning one UEFA Cup Winner's Cup (1989/1990) and of having played in the finals of the then Champions Cup (1991/1992), the UEFA Cup Winner's Cup (1988/1989) and of the UEFA Supercup (1990).

It is commonly known by the nicknames "the Samp" or "the Doria".
