Fondata il 3 ottobre 1909, il Bologna FC è tra i club più blasonati d'Italia: a livello nazionale annovera 7 titoli di campione d'Italia e due Coppe Italia
In ambito internazionale, il Bologna fu la prima squadra italiana a vincere un trofeo continentale, nel 1932: la Coppa dell'Europa Centrale e una Coppa Intertoto.
Il Bologna detiene il singolare record di due scudetti vinti allo spareggio: uno contro il Torinio nel 1929 e uno contro l'Inter nel 1964.
