Wooden plaque of the Brooklyn Nets, a team that was originally founded as the New York Americans in 1967 in the ABA.
Between 1968 and 1977, they were known as the New York Nets, and later joined the NBA as the New Jersey Nets, a name they kept until 2012, the year of their relocation to Brooklyn.
The Brooklyn Nets are one of the thirty basketball franchises that compete in the premier professional league in the United States, the National Basketball Association (NBA), and one of the four teams that joined the NBA from the ABA, along with the San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, and Denver Nuggets.
The franchise is based in Brooklyn, one of New York City’s five boroughs, and plays its home games at the Barclays Center.
This wooden plaque was distributed to the first 5,000 fans attending the San Antonio Spurs vs. Brooklyn Nets game on January 2, 2023.
