This is a 100 Lire banknote from the Bank of Italy, issued in 1943 during the Second World War.
This banknote was issued during the Fascist period and the Second World War, when Italy was experiencing great economic and political instability. The eagle design and the artistic style reflect the ideology of the regime. After the war, many of these banknotes were replaced by new, more modern issues.
This series was gradually withdrawn with the introduction of the 100 Lire "Italia ornata di perle", one of the most iconic in Italian monetary history.
